Ola likes to be on the move

Ola Randerz, Global Sales Support, enjoys his job as it takes him all over the world. To meet US governments one week and the following week visit Asian customer is very stimulating, even if a few calmer weeks in the office now and then make a nice change.

What does a Global Sales Support do?

- I belong to the sales department and work with the large smart card projects. I often support the sales people in technical issues and make sure that the customer feels confident in that part of the project. My role also involves encouraging customers to extend their use of biometrics in the different ID card projects.

You have been with Precise Biometrics since 2004. What do you remember best?

- When we won the national ID card in Thailand 2005! It was a major event, because it was our first national ID card. It gave us a great leap ahead on the market. And after that there was Portugal, Qatar, Bahrain and then Venezuela.

What makes your job interesting?

- All the amazing customers and partners you meet from all over the world. One week I might be discussing with a US government agency, and the next meeting up with a partner in Asia. The travelling is exciting, but above all it’s important. It gives us an insight into the customer’s environment and the prospects, which it is essential to understand when you are introducing a biometric system. And then of course all these meetings in different settings give you an enormous perspective, even if sometimes it’s nice with normal nine-to-five hours in the office.

What was most exciting in 2009?

- Personally I think our entrance into the African banking market through the agreement with Interswitch in Nigeria is very exciting. I have made a few trips to Nigeria and it is interesting to see the potential and the challenges facing Interswitch, which in most cases they have overcome through their successful venture.

And what about Precise Biometrics’ future?

- Thumbs up! I’m looking forward to 2010. I’m hoping for an even better return on all the hard work we have put in, and that we can continue to build on the success we have achieved.
